I have a handheld, nonmapping GPS (Lowrance GlobalNav 212) and had an Eagle Explorer before that. Neither the internal memory nor the downloadable software from the Lowrance website (GPS Data Manager)permit much in the way of writing notes about waypoints, routes, etc. It would be great to have some software that would let a guy write a paragraph about a waypoint, route, plot trail, etc., and renumber the waypoints and upload 'em again(I can do that in the unit itself through a tedious process, but not with the Lowrance software on my computer). SO, anybody know about any user-friendly software that lets you annotate waypoints, etc., with lots of extra information? And manipulate them on the computer? Thanks. John

Go to www.gpsoutfitters.com
Check out the Fugawi software. This program lets you make your own maps, and allows you to hook your handheld unit up to your computer. I think this is just what you are looking for.
If you have any questions, please feel free to give them a call to discuss the software further. 1-800-477-4868
Tell them Craig said to call.

Hi Craig. Thanks for your response. Just off the phone with a fellow at gpsoutfitters, and it sounds like they have software that will do the trick for around $100. We'll download a sample and give it a try. Boy, I have plot trails and waypoints going back several years, annotated by paper notes, etc., what a pain. If I can download and organize and annotate that stuff the way I want on the computer, and then upload only what I want back into the gps to be ready to go for any particular trip, having stored the rest of it on the hard drive, that will be great. Thanks again. John.
