I am thinking of running Pinpoints graphs this year
instead of lowrance.
There's nothing wrong with lowrance but a few friends that have that are now running Pinpoints sure like them.
Any feed back for or against would be appreciated.

I like my Pinpoint. I think they make one of the best units out there.

It may take a while to learn how to effectively use their trolling motors, but not their graphs. No cons. I upgraded my 350A with Pinpoint and never looked back. Even losing the built-in GPS capability was more than made up by the quality of their graphs.

Love mine wouldn't trade even for the new lowrance. Cause I can send mine back and get those new upgades when they come out with them. And not spend 1200.00 everytime I want the new one. Just my thought on the subject. There playing with an actual unit with gps now. Its out of the drawing room but still a few months away. Love that trolling motor too! Craig

The up grade availability is a definite plus. Only units on the market with this feature. I also like the flash chart feature of 60 pixels per second. Near real time. Lowrance X-85, 350A runs at 6 pixels per second. 3600 watts of power make this an excellent choice. No fuss hookups on trolling motor, no cords hanging on shaft, feature also available on some Motorguide trolling motors.

Good luck, Murph!

Can someone comment on if these Pinpoint units are fully waterproof or weatherproof as the Lowrances have been?

Had mine in the rain before and pretty tough waves with no problem. Only time had trouble was in the 90 degree sun. Shut it off for awhile and it was fine again. Don't think any finder will work well in a hot hot sun since electronics generate their own heat. They have a 2 year warranty if you did have a problem. Craig

Has anyone had problems in cold weather? I was out this weekend at Spring Valley (very cold!). Had some difficulty with my bowmount which experienced sub-zero wind chills while running. After a while the unit worked, probably warmed from being turned on. Is this common with all units? I normally don't run when it is this cold.

I've run mine in sub-freezing temps without problems, but never sub-zero temps. I've also experienced problems with heat while at Lake Powell in July last summer. It was scorching (100+), and the unit kept cutting out. I draped a white towel over it to reflect the light and it worked fine.

I have the same problem this year, x-15 or Pinpoint, I hear a lot of good comments about the pinpoint, but last summer my buddy had nothing but grief with his and never got any real satisfaction until the end of the season. This is especially troublesome if your counting on these units for tournaments. Hopefully his is now fixed, we'll find out this spring. Hopefully customer satisfaction will be their mainstay, meanwhile this it what makes me undecided. I had a problem with my Lowrence and was satisfied immediately, no repeat phone calls were necessary.

I am a Pinpoint lover! Been with using them for 4 years now and find them a very important part of my fishing success! I have put the camera down many times to see what my 7520's are reading and they don't lie. When I am marking fish, I am able to tell what type they are now. Of course I couldn't have done it without a camera but the Pinpoints are top notch in every area. Plus, the service you will get if anything happens is unreal! Good fishing and don't forget to shoot the puck. Mike Peluso #999

Eye (Darin),

A year or two back I had trouble with a 7500 in cold weather. Called Pinpoint and talked to tech who felt I had lost a seal somewhere. Sent unit in and had it serviced (as well as upgraded). Was back to me in just over a week. GREAT UNITS & GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE !!

How do you tell the difference between a carp and a walleye by the arch? I always figured if they were on or near the bottom they were walleye, and suspended fish were likely carp. I do love seeing schools of perch or baitfish clouds as a cloud of tiny arcs.
