Got to www.ebay.com and type in "Eagle Fish I.D"
Being a new walleye fisherman can be an expensive business. A lot of seasoned walleye anglers are buying new units. Put up a few notices at bait shops, marinas etc. You might be able to get a good used unit and still have some money left over. There are a lot of good guys out there that like to help a novice get started.

Give the Garmin 160 a look, around your price range with great power and target seperation. If you can afford around 300, go with the 240. It will keep up with the best out there, including the x-85....take it easy

Realistically fish finders are much better and have more features than 5 10 and 15 years ago. Do not know if you have a boat, but one of the new Eagles such as "fish easy" or "optima" or a Humminbird can be purchased in your price range rigged for portable use. This way you can use it on your boat, rental boat, canoe, and thru the ice. Probably a common smart choice for a first timer.
