My best friend & I make many fishing trips together splitting the cost 50/50. This yr my wife will join us..we use my towing vehicle & boat...how should the costs be split for the cabin, car gas & boat gas? My wife does not work outside the home.

Not that this is anybody's decision but yours. Although If I was your buddy, It might bug me that I was paying half the costs when going with a guy and his wife.

If I owned the boat and truck with someone not willing to spring for half of the fuel and cabin even with my wife, I'd be better off going with just my wife. I've had people want to go fishing with me and then cry about having to buy an Ohio license because that's where the fish were. They didn't get a repeat invitation. Someone like that would complain about replacing a rod they dropped over the side of my boat.I don't even want to go there. If you're going with someone who has $30-50,000 invested in equipment you'd be ahead springing for all of the gas and keeping your money invested. Most people that I take out are good friends who ask about chipping in. Unless it was an unsually expensive day, I usually thank them for asking and politely decline. Most people that go out with me have asked and I'm usually glad to oblige them. It makes it easier when they're appreciative of the time and take care of the equipment that they're using. this has been a little long but, If the cabin costs didn't increase with the wife going staying at half would still be fare. If there is an increase of costs for her that should be picked up by you and not the partner going with you.
Just my opinion. Be up front with your fishing buddy about the costs ahead of time and weigh the little extra costs against the relationship and time invested. Good luck! You're treading in dangerous territory with some people!
