I drilled a hole on sunday the 25th in buffalo lake. The auger didn't go thru until the motor was about an inch away the ice. my guess is it's about 2-2.5 feet thick down here. I Think it's still making ice, not melting it. Looks like we may have open water by sometime in july. So much for global warming. Maybe if we all think "melt" at the same time.

Red Lake and Lake of the Woods have more than 3'. I cut holes and just barely made it through. For got my extendion and no stores have any up there. The ice is covered with snow so it's going to be a late ice out. Good luck FISHING...Kaz

Went out Sunday 3/25 on a lake in the Cities and there was 18-20 inches of ice beneath 6 inches of melted down snow.
