i used one of these at lac seul last week and found it to be great when handling big fish. especially walleye.

anyway, about half way thru the week i read on the fish ruler on the side of the camp boat that these can harm fish. i'm wondering how? hope i did not do any harm. certainly seemed better than those wire jaw spreaders. i should note that the literature on the measure also said that a hook in the fish's mouth would dissolve in a few days. i know that's not true. the measure was put out by four seasons bait shop as advertising and had all kinds of helpful hints at the bottom.
