View Full Version : HELP - Chevy Mirror!

I need your help.
Here's the scoop. The passanger side electric mirror on my '94 Suburban fell off, litterally, last weekend. It had been weakened by my wife's repeated hits to the garage farme. (Let's leave that alone) However, only the glass and the plastic mount are bad. The pivot clips on the back of the mirror that holds it in the housing is just worn. The motor, the metal housing and everything else are perfect aside from some gray paint on the housing.
The problem is Chevy only offers the entire assembly for that model. The newer style mirrors can be purchased separately. I have the type with the "X" in the center (Not the round mount) and the two drive screws for adjustment.
Anyone know where I can get this part without heading to the muddy junk yards? On-line would be great.
Can't believe how much I depended on that mirror until it was gone.
Much thanks in advance.

Thats funny... I just had my mirror replaced on Monday by the dealer.. I have a 1998 Chevy and it is the same. I was lucky (kinda) I had a Fire Truck take my mirror off in Downtown Mpls. and they paid for it! $289 bucks installed.... ouch!
Good Luck

Yep, I can get the whole "brick" for $180, but I only need the glass and the plastic it is attached to. When Chevy had them they were $28. Discontinued last year. BUMMER!

Check with an automotive glass and mirror place. The glass has to be made someplace and these guys do a lot of insurance work for autobody places. They may be able to steer you in the right direction.

I just got a new GPS in the mail and was testing out how fast I could run via GPS speed. My hip caught my Bonnevile's mirror, and I knocked it completely off. What made this this situation turn from bad to terrible was the fact that the mirror was heated, electronically adjusted, and it needed to be painted to match the color of the car's body. Installed, this little "mishap" costs my $387.58, that is a lot of cash for a mirror!

Hey Eric,
Try John's Auto Parts in Blaine, they can get anything, and most of the time cheaper than any place else.

Triple A auto parts in Rosemount may have what your looking for. It may be a junk yard but you don't have to trudge through the mud. Just mosey up to the counter and pick up a clean and packaged used part. If they don't have it themselves they can check a rather large roster of "auto recyclers" to locate what you need. Pat K

Don't you have anything better to do with your time? This is a walleye chat, not an auto parts swap meet. Same thing happened to me last year and I certainly didn't have the time to call every body parts place, let alone chat about it on the internet. Sorry about your luck.

How many hours is the difference between a $300 instal and $20 do it yourself job? for $280 i could spend a few minutes writing and responding to a post.
I know I have spent more time than that figuring out which line to buy, a $5-10 decision.
Just putting this into perspective, some of us dont have the money to throw around, and get a new excuse for a nice new rod and reel with the savings.
