Does anyone out there own/use any of the Garmin fixed mount GPS Map units? I am looking at purchasing a GPS Map 162(w/internal antennae), but would take recommendations/suggestions for something better in the same price range, $360.

What are some of the problems one might expect with them.

What do you like about them?

Will I need to purchase any additional chips? I mainly fish Lake Erie out of Vermilion & Huron.

Thanks in advance :)

GREG, HAVE A GARMIN GPS/FISHFINDER 128. IT DOSENT TAKE CHIPS, BUT I LOVE THE UNIT. HAVENT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT AT ALL. ALSO FISH ALOT OUT OF THE HURON/VERMILLION AREA FOR EYES. IT DOES HAVE THE EXTERNAL ANTENA, BUT IT IS THE SMALL ONE, NOT THE WHIP TYPE(ABOUT 8 INCHES HIGH. DO PLAN TO UPGRADE SOON, AND PLAN ON STICKING WITH GARMIN. GOOD LUCK AND TIGHT LINES EYE PROBLEM

I have the 162 internal antenna it works great out of the box, but after market maps such as the mapsource maps leave much to be desired. I have heard though that their working on Hot Spots Maps which should provide great mapping info.
