Based on the information you added (You are in Ohio and the boat is in PA) You will need the proof of sale and/or, more likely, the signed transfer of title or registration from the previous owner. IN MN unless there is a loan against the boat motor and trailer, you do not need a title, but it is a good idea to have one anyway. MN DNR Registration is all that is required and we transfer that upon the sale by signing the back of the registration card.

However, you could simply call a licensing office in your home town and ask what would be required. That to me would remove any guess work. IMHO

Are you registering in PA? If you are the boat must register thru the fish and boat commission. Did mine at county seat at treasurers office. The trailer will need registered thru the Pa dept of transportation. Trailer reg is $6 a year boat reg is $30 bi annualy.

NOW... this will save you alot of money. Get 3 separate recipts. 1 each for boat, motor and trailer. You will pay tax for trailer to PA DOT and you will pay tax on either the boat(I think that is the right scenario) or the motor BUT not both. Alot of county treasurers offices either dont know this or act dumb to put $ in treasury. Insist that you pay tax only on the boat.

IF your county treasurer cant get it right you can seek out one that knows what they are doing in another county.

Email me if you have trouble with this and want location of our county treasury that will do it right.
