I have a LMS160 and X-85 mounted at the console of my boat. Here is my problem. I do a lot of night fishing and the backlite on my units reflect off my full console windshield making it hard to see while under way. With my X-85 I am able to dim down the backlite if wanted until the light totally disappears to eliminate the problem. My LMS-160 backlite will only dim to about half power when the unit is dimmed all the way down. Does any else with a LMS-160 have this problem or is it normal. I have 3 months left on my warranty and want to send it in if this is not normal. When I called their customer service the rep thought it was normal but I think it should dim down like the backlite on the X-85. What are your thoughts?

I had the same problems, only in reverse of how you have them> My X-85 would not dim down nearly enough, but my LMS-160 would dim down to any level I desired. I suspect that it has something to do with their date of manufacture. My X-85 was a year older than the 160. I don't knw if Lowrance will do anything about it or not, but it might be worth a call. They are usually pretty good about stuff like this.
