does anyone have a good and favorite source of beads for spinner harness making. I have looked through Cabela's and Bass Pro but selection is limited as far as color and sizing. Also, when you do find what you want, it is limited to stock on hand. I'm not looking for any wild colors, just the basics in good size assortment and good availability, also wouldn't mind good pricing on bulk buys!! Thanks for any leads...RJ

The big craft stores are your best bet, unless you are lucky enough to have a bead shop near you. Try some glass beads, they make more noise. Good luck

I bought my mat'ls at Gander MT. Specifically the store in Franklin, WI. They have all standard stuff plus some add'l colors. Also you should try Reinke Bros. in Milwaukee. They have anything you might need for the guy that puts his own stuff together, including rod building, jig making, spinner making, the list goes on. And they're reasonable and knowledgable. Hope this helps.

Try Walmart in their crafts section. Also JoAnn's Fabrics have a very nice selection. The price is right too!

I second the craft store idea. I get all of mine at craft stores. You get much bigger bags of them for a lot less money than if you were to buy them at a tackle shop. Just for giggles, try some faceted beads in about a 4mm size. I have caught more fish on spinner rigs that are the same except for one had faceted beads. I have also begun to use lindy rig floats instead of beads with my spinners under certain circumstances and have had good luck there too.

i have also bought at craft stores...
but for a good selection try a guy named wild4lures on ebay
have bought about 12,000 beads off him and they are very good quality.... if you bid right you can average 2.95 per thousand compared to 8.00$ per thousand at the tackle wholesalers...
wild4lures has all sizes from 3mm to 10mm .... he is honest and ships fast from fargo n.d....... hard to get glow beads at the craft stores.........

Try calling Dakota Tackle in Bismarck, ND. The store specializes in both wholesale and retail of components. He will have almost anything you are looking for.

I don't know if you are ever near Green Bay, but Bob's Bait & Tackle has a great selection of beads, especially the big ones we like to use in big water.

I seccond the bid for hagens!
allong with a good selection of beads(in several diff quality & price levels) they are THE source for top quality spinner & lure components.

If you look around, many of the "local made" spinners are with their components & no modifications!

Also there is http://www.staminainc.com/ in Minneapolis. I believe you can walk right in and buy the stuff in addition to mail ordering.

Why do you need 65,000 beads? hummm fun w/ math

If you use 5 beads on your spinners, you will have 13,000 spinners. with 13,000 spinners, say it takes 2 minutes to tie your hooks, and put beads on. Thats 433 hours of assembly. (10.8 weeks, working 8 hours a day)

You would have to go thru 35 spinner harnesses a day, to use up all your spinners in a year.

To make your spinners last 10 years, you would have to use no more than 108 spinners per month.

Just a little fun w/ math

well,to put it this way,i wont be searching for beads to make rigs for a few years to come,i will never run out of beads this year,or possibly next year also.i can honestly say i got them for a great price, which was half of what stamina has them for.
