Just about any of the GPS units will let you enter in GPS coordinates manually. My old Garmin GPS45 does it fine, and I'm sure nowadays the $100 units can probably outperform my old one.
No they won't unless you plug them into a PC. With out a PC most of them can only save the current position you're at.

I have two hand held units. One is a Lowrance the other is an Eagle. Both are able to program in a positition without being there and they will take you to them. I also have the Eagle View which is hard mounted in the boat and it too will allow you to program a position into the unit and it will guide you to it without ever being there. These units are not expensive either.

just checked the gps45 manual on garmins web page, it has the ability to accept coord without a pc. I know the gps38 and gps 12 can also
Eric is right where the Magellan 315 is concerned. I bought that one last year thinking you could program coordinates into it manually. I tried this prior to an ice fishing trip, only to discover it wasn't going to happen. Back to K-mart it went, and then I had to hassle with sporting goods manager to get my money back. So you folks are saying the Garmin 12's and maybe the 48 are units you can manually input you're own coordinates? If that is so, then I think I'll replace my old Magellan 2000.

If you can't program coords into a Garmin 12($150) I'll show you how, have done it with mine quite a few times, comes in handy in SD for getting to lakes when a lot of roads are flooded over

Sure can with a Magellan 315 - knd of cumbersome - but can be done p- did 10 minutes after buying one while setting in a rest area parking lot.
Cheapest out there is the Garmin etrex and I'll bet it will -
I doubt if there are ANY that one can't enter manually .....
Paul H, maybe I am too used to my old Magellan 2000, and the way it's done with that one after years of use. I looked at the manual for the 315 after I bought it, but I couldn't figure it out and gave up in frustration. Oh well! I'll probably go with the Garmin 12 or maybe the 48.
