I'm going to be purchasing a couple more of the Diawa 47 line counter reels. I have 6 of the SG27LC's and love them but need something bigger for fall salmon.
The 47 series has two different models though, the SG47LC and the 47LC. Two differences I can find: retrieve ratio and # of ball bearings. The SG has a lower retrieve ratio -- 4.2:1 vs 5.2:1. The SG has 2 ball bearings while the non-SG has none. The SG is also a SeaLine reel which means it has all stainless steel parts while the non-SG does not.
My question is whether anyone has noticed a significant difference between the reels? Especially with the average cost difference at about $30 ($99 vs $69) -- that's 7-8 more lures per reel ;-).
Thanks.

I only have the 47LC's so I can't comment on any noticable differences, but I would like to know where you can get them for $69.00? Best price I've seen in the N.E. is $80.00. Shellback

Bass Pro Shops has 47LC for 69.99. I too have not had any experience with SG's. But I have 6 of 47LC's and like them.

You guys are lucky! No BPS around me and that special is for in store purchases only. Kind of a bummer when they offer the price at local stores but not to those who have no access to one. Maybe I'll call the main store and give them some grief.

I called the BPS national number last night because I had heard that the 47LCs were going on sale at $59. Their computer systems go down for maintenance over night Saturdays so she could not check to see if the mail order price was also on sale. She did say that normally, the mail order will honor store prices.
Even if they don't, it sounds like the normal $69 price of BPS is better than you can get locally.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-01-01 AT 07:58PM (CST)[p]Decided that the $30 per reel made it worth getting the 47LC's.
Went to the Gander Mountain store in Kalamazoo and they matched the BassPro sale price of $59 -- well sort of. They were out of the 47LCs individual reels, but had a pair of them in combo with Diawa Hartland 8 1/2' rods. Their regular price on the reels is $79 verses the $59 BPS sale price. Since I had called earlier in the day (before driving an hour) and the store manager had told me on the phone that the reels were in stock, they took $20 off the combos and sold them at $79 each and spooled them with line for "free". Since everyone except BassPro has just the reels at $79 each, I basically got rods and line for free.
Worked out well since it saved me 4 hours of travel time (2 each way) to either Chicago or Detroit's Bass Pro Outdoorworld stores. Was nice to see that Gander Mountain stood behind their price match policy.
Thanks to those here at WC that told me about the BPS sale. It saved me some decent money -- one more fuel fillup for the boat this summer! :-)
