I've been thinking about respooling this year with one of the superlines (Fireline, Spiderwire, etc.)instead of monofilament this year. My favorite way to fish is pulling flatline cranks, and superlines seem to excel at this from what I've heard. My concern is the guides on my rods. Will superline wear grooves in ceramic guides? Thanks in advance for any responses, Mike

The braided lines will cause more line wear than mono, however fireline isn't a braid. I have all my rods spooled with it. It runs deeper, is more sensitive and those lures that get hung up that I used to leave on the lake bottom are still in my tackle box, some after replacing straightened hooks. Be sure to put a small amount of mono backing on spinning reel first to keep fireline from slipping on the spool.

I am a big user of Fireline and use it for long-line trolling. I also use it in jigging applications on spinning reels. I also have mono spooled for slip bobber rigs and some shallow jigging. I have not had a problem with it wearing on the eyes. A couple of years ago, I had upgraded all of my gear which included better quality rods with top of the line guides. The line manufacturers have spent some time in the press defending the lines against wear on the guides of the better quality rods. I am sure that there are problems with those quides that use plastic or some other soft material for the inner lining.
