I'm going to purchase the new x15, but need some insight on the different transducers. It comes standard w/ a 21 degree transducer, but the dual has a 12 & 37 degree. Obviously, I know it's wider, but how does it effect the 50 & 200 kHz. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
Lance
Orange Barrell,
The 21 degree transducer is a 200 kHz transducer. The 12/37 degree transducer is used at 200/50 kHz respectively. The 200 kHz units will generally show more detail (separation) than the 50 kHz transducers.

I had a dual-frequency transducer on my 350A, and when run in split-screen mode, you'd get two different views of the same territory. One would give you a better view of what's underneath you while the other would provide better clarity and target separation. It's a great way to go.
Enjoy.

I have that unit and even though havent had it out on the water, it's already impressed the @#%^ out of me.If you fish Winnebago you want to think a/b buying the fishing hots spots map for the MMC cards. Go to WWW.NAVIONICS.COM.Get their 800# and call.
I bought winnebago chain plus the card that costed $25.00 per map and $ 44.00 for the card, after 4-30-01 they go up to 79.00 a map.
P.S.This unit has alot stuff on it, I think its going to take me all summer to learn it.
You are not alone here. Before I bought my x15 I asked a lot of questions about this same subject and got a variety of answers. It was very confusing. What I decided to do was buy the basic unit with the 21 degree transducer because I found one on sale at a boat show. I'll try it like that for a season and keep my eyes and ears open. Who knows, I might buy the other one and mount them both on the boat and just switch back and forth at will. BUT for now I'll keep it simple til I get this thing figured out.

I thought I was the only one confused, now I understand the difference between the transducers, does anyone know if you can purchase the 21 degree transducer and upgrade later?
