During their Spring Fishing Classic, BSP in Gurnee,IL is advertising Avid Rods for $99. If you could only buy 3, which 3 would it be for different walleye fishing techniques? And, how would you hide this from the wife?

Leo,

Did the ad say this $99 price was for ANY avid rod? I think I remember the sale flyer I got (threw it out already) as only a few certain rods (discontinued items). Usually the SJF6'3" MF has been spoken well of on this board.

As far as keeping it from your better half---you like to play dangerously!! I'd rather tell her up front and get through the hassle than have her find out later!! Again thats with my wife, yours may take things differently!

A must would be the AS63MXF

besides this rod, probably a ML rod shorter than 6'. Other than that, it's up to you.

Went to BPS in Auburn Hills, Mi. today after work to look at the Avids that we all saw in the ad circular. Only a few spinning rods, no casting rods at all. Very disappointing. You could buy all the legends that you wanted though. (at full price, of course) The guy that worked in the fishing area said he couldn't understand why they placed that ad because he hardly had anything in stock. That borders on misleading advertising, but what the heck, it got me into their store.

The heading on the ad says "Special Purchase". $99, Reg. 150.00 - 200.00. Gimmick or not, I dont live that far away and just have to check it out(cabin fever). And, after 45 yrs of marriage, I know its better to not tell her!!!
