View Full Version : psi for trailer tires
I have a Shorelander trailer with Goodyear tires. The total weight with boat is around 2200 lbs. I was wondering what most people inflate the tires to. The manual says refer to the tires and all they say is 50 psi max. how close to this do most people keep them inflated to? Thanks in advance!!!
There should be a sticker on the inside rail of the trailer. This sticker will list a number of things about the trailer including the recommended tire pressure. I keep my tires at 50psi per my sticker.

The 50 psi listed on the sidewall of the tire is referring to when the tired is cold. So, when inflating the tire to this pressure, make sure that the conditions are right. The tire should always be inflated to the recommended pressure, otherwise tire failure may occur, especially when hauling a load.
Remember to always keep your eyes open and your feet dry.

Tire folks have always told me that underinflation is the biggest problem with vehicle tires -- trailers, cars, trucks. I keep mine at recommended max and have not had tire failure since the 1960s.

I have kept the tires on my truck to the man. rec., that is on the inside of the drivers door. They recommend 35 psi for the front and 41 psi for rear. The tire max psi is 50, I wonder how they determine what the best psi is? Isn't that what happened with the whole ford/firestone problem, Ford wanted the tires to be underinflated, then again why don't they put a min. psi on the tires?
