View Full Version : Proper Prop for 225 Optimax
I recently bought a 620 Ranger with a 225 Optimax that has a Mercury Tempest 3 blade prop with a 21 pitch. I want to know what is or is this the proper prop for my boat and motor? What is the real speed that I will get out of my boat?

I also bought a new 620 with the same prop and I have called the folks I trust most with the same ?. Some run 6" jack plates some don't but they all say the 21" tempest is the way to go. Since this is my first 620 I let the guys that have been running them since "98" make that decision. They have had time to test them all.
I applaud them, and take their advice whole heartedley.
Good fishing to you
Colin

i bought my 620 last year with 225 opti and was installed with the 3 blade 21 tempest and i loved it. conflicting numbers on speed, but expect upper 50's to around 60. great all around prop as i pulled kids skiing, fished tourneys, etc... and have no complaints. last year it was the consensus on here about what prop to use. best of luck!
