Anyone been out there yet? Where is a good place to put in? Is there any areas that I need to be wary of (20 ft. w/200 Merc.)?

I was at Ford Dam Sat and Red Wing on Sun. Ford dam was slow due to low water temps. Did not even mark many fish near the dam. Picked up a couple very nice fish well downriver just before dark. As the temps climb this week the fish should turn on. No worries in this part of the river for your rig, Elk River area would be another story.

I haven't been to the Ford dam in a couple weeks, but from everything I'm hearing thus far, it's still kinda slow. As far as landings, Hidden Falls is the closest (just below the dam). If you are closer to St Paul, you can put in at Lilydale or 494 and run up (no wake through downtown St Paul area). Nothing much to worry about till you get up into the dam area, near the head of the island.
