Im a well seasoned guide, and a very tenacious fisherman who does pretty darn good at this,Im known as the guide who will wear himself out to make sure he gets you fish, not unlike a lot of good guides I know who have been sort of mentors to me,what I was wondering is ,I have never fished a tourney ,but would like to ,I know I could do it no problem ,maybe not win,but ##### sure to try!!I have a buddy who fishes the Mille Lacs tourneys and such,he talked about the grind, try being a guide for a hundred plus days a year! So just wondering if anyone wants to give me a shot?

Hello, Say I'm a guide also. I also fish from dawn to dusk on a daily rate. Although here in Iowa Walleye clients are a little harder to come by. There was a post a while back maybe a month ago. Some guy was looking for a partner for some mill lacs events. You might search the arcives under partner wanted ?. Good luck and if you score and need to free up some of those clients to make room for your tournys send them my way to Iowa. Plenty of fish here to be had also. "COMA

Coma,
Thanksfor the info, this probably will never happen because I have a hard time turning down bookings for any reason,I love to guide and it would probably cramp m style, but if the right situation came up I might go for it.Right now the phone is ringing pretty good ,so it looks like it may not happen anyway.
what a way to make a living ,huh?

I have a cousin that guides on the St.Lawrence River & I know what his schedule is like...hectic. If you decide to give some tourneys a try I wish you all the luck. I think a true & tried guide would be an asset in any pro's boat. Best of luck to ya.

Hey Gary, If you want to try your hand at some tournaments and it appears that you live in MN, then go to www.polebender.com and check out the Minnesota Walleye Trail, we are new this year, and the way we set up our series it would be a good place to start tournament fishing with out a lot of expense. And it sounds like a guide like you would might have an edge.

Since you've never been in a tournament, give it a shot. Try going as an amateur in a pro/am somewhere just to see what it's all about. It might give you a new perspective. Then try entering a team tournament with one of your buddies as your partner. Start off slowly and have fun doing it.

Wolf,
You are very right ,thats the thing that keeps me thinking about it,is that I would be an asset to anyone I would fish with ,it always keeps me thinking ,gee..if I did? Also ,I love my guiding so much ,I dont want to get out of that guiding goooove...one gets in,I have found that I have to be as intense about my clients fishing even more than mine ,wich is very intense!!!That doesnt mean catching fish,I hope to educate and inform people how to enjoy and preserve what we have in our sport.
