Is any particular brand of knot tier better than the others?

Fingers and brain method. Learn a few of the essentials, palomar, back-to-back uni, etc and no gimmicks or devices needed. And you'll always have them with you (hopefully), and you'll never find yourself in trouble if a device is lost or damaged.
Know those knots, but they aren't always the easiest to tie in three or four foot waves.
I kinda agree with Gunga Din, but some of us olde phartz get stiff fingers on cold mornings. Don't know the name of it, but I have a brass gadget about the size of a skinny ball point pen which is very versatile and easy to use.

I completely agree with all of the other posts.
I also own several of most of the knot tiers out there. But in general, they simply lay in the storage locker.
For those cold days and stiff fingers - I basically do what I have to simply use a palamor knot or a tirple surgeons knot.
In gneral I can tie these knots in the wind, cold and with wimpy line.
I can certainly appreciate all of the other comments. Been there in the wind, cold, waves, and rain. Yep - makes knot tying tough.
Take care

Ya and don't forget the reading glasses-- right. At least if you're as old as some of us... cw
Been using a "Rudy's" tyer for close to twenty years. Got the first one from Cabela's and then ordered them from Rudy Masson Products, 3607 W. Magnolia Bldv., Burbank, California 91505.
I believe that they were bought out. The last ones required a search on internet to come up with new owners and address. Can't say enough good especially tying snelled hooks.
I don't argee with any of the above posts, but I did use my
brain once and bought a Cinch Tie knot tier. I have been
using them for years and they are fast and fantastic. You can
tie 12 different knots with gloves on and in big waves, in one half the time.
Sure you have to learn the knots and how to use it but once your
used to it you will never go back to hand tying. All of my fishing friends now use them. Only tie them on since they are
made of brass and don't float. Mail order: Koehler Industries

I Use the Rudys knot tier and find it works very well for knots esp. snells. Jans Netcraft carries them
