Here is my dilemma. I purchased a set of wave wackers(Herrick Ent.)with the trolling motor cut out, intending to purchase a Maxxum 74. Ended up getting a Vantage 74. Phoned Herrick Ent. re purchasing the appropriate wacker to facilitate the vantage. Mike informed me that they have had to change the size/design. He also mentioned that several anglers have cut out their wave wackers to fit the vantage, instead of purchasing an entire new set.
Has anyone attempted this, and if so, any suggestions to your methodology( boat is a year 2000 1800 Pro V tiller/90hp Honda).
All info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Don't have an answer for you on the wave wackers, but what kind of speed do you get out of your rig? Buddy of mine is buying an 1800 with a 90hp, are you happy with that combination? Thanks!

1800/90 hp combo should do about 41-43 MPH!

I would also like to know how this boat/motor combo perfoms.41-43 mph sounds a little high for a 90 fourstroke on a big boat.I would guess more like 36-38 mph, wheres Big Al.

Re: 1800 Pro V tiller/90 hp Honda
Speed (gps) with full load (gas, livewells full, gear, 2 people, etc.) is 32-33 mph. Max. speed I have achieved with lighter loads was 34.7 mph. These are in ideal conditions, flat calm to 1-2 ft. chop. After that I back off on the throttle. Speed without my Maxxum 74 on the bow approached 36 mph, trimmed out and flat calm.
Ride is very smooth, in my opinion. Can be very wet in strong cross winds. Hole shot is great. On plane in seconds.
Great boat for FISHING.
Honda has been great, smooth and quiet. I use a drift sock to troll down when using the outboard when required (normal avg. trolling speeds are approx 1.5-2.1 mph as per paddle wheel.
Overall, I am very happy with this combo.
Any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Al, Try trimming the rubber with a utility knife to modify the fit for the Vantage. When I intalled my Wave Wackers I did this around my outboard to achieve a talored fit. (followed the insturctions from Herrick) I don't see why you should have any trouble doing the same to taylor the cut-out to fit the Vantage. Start by trimming a little at a time. You can always trim more but cant put it back on once you cut it off.
