I was wondering what the better lines for leaders are? Looking to tie a bunch of spinners and live bait rigs and don't want to waste a lot of my time on cheap line. Is fluoral carbon better? Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

I have tied and used a number of snells with the Seaguar floro-carbon line. I use these in the clear/slow presentation situations with good success. I also have tied and used snells with 4lb and 6lb Trilene XL. For spinners, I do not believe that floro is necessary since you are already throwing a bit more hardware out there. I use 8lb Trilene XT for these. I typically am fishing with the snells rather than the spinners.

Remember to wet those knots before tightening, especially with the floro. On previous posts, it was suggested to get some Q-tips with mineral oil to lube the knot before tightening.

I agree with Ernie. If you fish Erie or the Mississippi where zebra mussels are everywhere - a couple other very tough, low visibility, abrasion resistant lines I have had good luck with are Maxima Chameleon and P-Line CXXX. 8lb or 10lb.

While your at it, tie a few rigs with streamer flies, white with a little mylar tinsel has worked very good for me. If your bait gets stripped off your still dragging someting that a walleye will try to eat. I started this with my 5 year old son who kept losing his bait, I first tried it with Gapen chartruese marabou wooly buggers tipped with half a crawler or leech. It worked so good for him I started trying it.

In case you can't tell, I fly fish too.
