swivels on jigs

I have seen walleyers using jigs snapped right on swivels to releive line twist. I have tried this my self and can't really come to a conclusion as whether there is a disadvantage to swivels or not. Let me know.

Barrel swivel 12 to 24 above jig and tie jig directly to line. It definitely stops line twist when jigging all day. Saves a lot of line and frustration of line wrapping around rod tip.
