If I was going to buy a 4 stroke it would be a Yamaha, weight is 50 lbs lighter than Mercury 4 stroke, about 15 heavier than 2 stroke, but $800 more expensive. The 4 stroke trolls too well, too much power more likely to bend a prop, driveshaft than kill the motor at low rpms

I'd also recommend a Yamaha. I've been told they are the # 1 selling 4-stroke on the market right now. They are easily just as dependable as a Honda , lighter and slightly less expensive. You'll like the way they run!

All are very nice units, But I would match the brand with your main motor, looks awhole lot better on boat when both motors are matched.

If you do some price checking you can actually find deals where the 4-stroke is less expensive than a 2-stroke. I did on a Mercury 9.9. In most cases the prices were very close. It is heavier but the other benefits are well worth it.

The 4 strokes are super nice, quiet, and troll down nice and slow. As far as brand, Merc and Yamaha are the same. Yamaha makes them for Merc. Go with whatever one is the best price. My dealer actually sells 1999 merc 9.9 4 strokes that for $1400. Good luck! Good fishing!!
