Bass Pro Shops are having there Spring Fishing Sale, and their Walleye Angler Baitcast Reel is on sale from $70 to $40, anybody have any experienece with this reel. I like the flipping switch. Could I cast plugs as well as rig with it? Thanks for the post.
Also any advice on a baitcast reel that is available with a left hand retrive.

I too bought the same reel. I haven't had a chance to use it yet. I bought it for running bottom bouncers. I think it will be alright.

I just bought 2 of them to go on 2 of the walleye series bouncer rods. Seems like a fine set up for the money. I have used the rods before and they are not bad at all. Handled up to 2 oz. bouncers just fine and had nice sensitivity. the reels feel nice and tight and solid framed. the anti backlash feels solid as well and they seem to operate quite smooth. I think they would also work fine for crank casting or spinnerbaits( I can't pass up a nice weed bed that might be holding Northerns when I see one!!). You did mention that they were on sale for $40, where did you find this. I ordered online for $49.95/ea. If they are some place for 40 I might have to pick up 1 or 2 more. Please reply on the price issue and I wouldn't be afraid to try one. See ya and good luck.. RJ in Montana

My reel was also 49.95 but I bought mine in January right after Christmas. I got it at the Gurnee Mills store North of Chicago. They have a big sale going on so it might be 10 bucks cheaper. I was there on Friday and they had a $1.99 Rapala sale. It was a madhouse around that bin. I loaded up on #4 Ratlin Fat Raps and found a couple Husky Jerks. Wally Divers were also $2.50 Thats not too bad. How are those Bottom bouncer rods you bought. I was looking at those and was thinking of buying a couple. I think that sale ends Sunday. So you might want to call them by tommorow.
Good Luck

Hey Bill, the walleye series bouncer rods are a great purchase. I'm not sure who's blank they use but they have a nice soft tip with plenty of butt to handle heavier bouncer(1 1/2-2 oz). I like the feel, comfortable grip and nice short handle doesn't get in the way when handling for long periods of time but long enough to give good leverage when you need it. To me they are plenty sensitive and made feeling a lite bite easy to detect. I would recommend them to anyone who either can't afford or can't justify a spendy rod. At $50 per (I paid 49.95 online) its a no brainer. Also they are built with lots of guides and I think this help spread the weight of the bouncers out over the entire rod well. I bought the 6'6" rods and am very happy. I'd buy more in a heartbeat. I also own and fish with a few fairly expensive Fenwick and Lamiglas rods so I feel able to make a good comparison. I have not owned my basspro walleye series rods for long so I can't comment on their durability but I do own several other basspro rods and have never had an issues with them. I used the same rods at the PWT at Fort Peck last summer and the Pro I fished with had good things to say as well. I know he uses his more in a year than I ever will probably!! In a nut shell, spend 50 bucks and give one a try. I think basspro has a similar satisfaction guarantee like Cabela's. I don't think you can go wrong. Good luck.. RJ in montana

Thanks RJ. I'm going to try the 6'6. My other rod is a 7ft Daiwa. Maybe I'll like the 6'6 better. Thanks again Bill

Just a note. The BPS rods are made in China. I don't know about the reels. I would not buy Chinese anything right now or ever.
