I installed a new stereo in the boat yesterday, and will be making the speaker connections in the near future. My question is, the stereo has outputs for four speakers (2 fronts and 2 rears). I will only be using two speakers in my installation, and was curious on thoughts as to which outputs I should use. I'm leaning towards using the fronts and simply taping off the rears, but that is not based on anything other than gut feeling!

Thanks for any suggestions

Hey Dave,
Yup, you are on the right track..Just make sure that you get the wires on the right posts of the speakers so that the speakers will not be out of phase..Other than that, CRANK IT UP!!!
(ie: + to + and - to -)

Dave, It shouldn't make any difference which output jacks you use as long as you get the + to + and - to - like buzzer mentioned. Gotta have tunes, makes a good day of fishin' even better! ;-)

Thanks, guys

Not really sure why, but the walleyes on Mille Lacs just seem to prefer the Gratefull Dead, Shakedown Street in particular!

Would you believe that the Devils Lake 'eyes' like Grateful Dead too? The bigger fish like AC/DC for some reason and the females go crazy over Van Halen...Just an observation!

LAST EDITED ON Apr-09-01 AT 04:23PM (CST)[p]But for the better tasting smaller fish like the males, plug in some Shania Twain ("Feel like a woman") and watch them just jump in the boat :-)

Down in Kentucky where I fish mostly...it's Haggard and Jones that turns them on. Alright by me too! ;)

It makes no difference if you use the front or rear set of leads as long as wired plus to plus...etc
However, you're wasting half of the watt output by "taping" them off. Talk to auto stereo installation people and see if an amplifier bridge is able to be put on your stereo unit. These are simply two(one pos and one neg) U-shaped plugs that apply to your speaker outputs making full use of watt output. Your stereo may not be suited to this but it is worth making a phone call to find out. Personally I've discovered that Haggard and No-show will only get bites from old fish with peculiar reddish colored neck markings while the big fish bite during a Hank Williams JR. c.d. is playing. Go figure!

I've found that Stevie Ray Vaughan turned up and alot of bottom end seems to put eye's into a bitin' mood. Dave I solder all speaker connections and then coat them with Liquid Electric tape.
