Does anybody out there have a good source of info about wiring deep cycle batteries and onboard chargers. I need to know about wiring parallel, in series etc. for 12 and 24 volt systems.
I know I have seen magazine articles etc. but of course can't find them now that I need them.

bacsically what you need to keep in mind when jumping up from 12 volt to 24, 36 or 48 volt systems is "the flashlight principle".
A flashlight multiplys the voltage of the standard 1.5 volt battery by the number of batterys in the flashlight.
In other words for 24 volts you would connect a cable from the positive cable of battery number 1 to the negative cable of battery number 2, The positive terminal of battery number 2 would then go to the positive terminal of the device you are operating and the negative terminal of the device would be wired to the negative terminal of battery number 1.
For 36 volts you would have to have 1 more battery wired between battery number 1 and battery number 2, with thepositive of battery number number 1 wired to the negative of battery number 2, the positive of battery 2 going to the negative of battery number 3 and so on. Confused? sorry i dont explain things very well. Just do this-open up a flashlight-notice how the itws wired-negative to positive and think of each flashlight battery as a 12 volt battery.

excellent explanation. I've been looking for the same information. When I read posts re: wiring parallel does that mean pos. to pos. and neg. to neg.? If so I'm assuming that does not produce 24 or 36 volts but instead 12 volts but with more running time. Am I on the right track?

I have been looking on the web for a while for the answer to this question, but have not found it yet:
With two batteries wired in parallel, can you wire your accesories off of both batteries? Or do all the leads need to connect to just one of them?
