I was thinking of running 10lb XT in solar green on my trolling rods when pulling boards, for increased visability on multipale sets. What is the below water visability like, and do's it effect your fishing.I currently run the low vis green and its hard to see when your making a turn with boards or just long lining.

Great idea.
If you are concerned about line visability - you really shouldn't be for a trolling bite - after all it is a reaction bite -- the solar XT line works great.

If you are concerned about line visability under the water and spooking fish, simply tie on a small swivel, and then add on a 3-10 foot piece of clear leader - florocarbon, low vis green or similar.

Many foks use this line with excellent results, and as you said, much easier to see and work with.

Take care

p.s.
Many of the folks who use fireline are switching over to solar green fireline for the same reason. The smoke colored fireline is basically invisable, and very difficult to work with.

the xt solar would be a good choice for your trolling rods.
and just so you have a choice, the stren hi vis gold also
does a good job. i use the trilene solar for my jigging rods
and the stren on the baitcasters.

its fun to talk fishin

Save your self some money and get a big spool of Berkley Big Game in the Solar color. I use Fireline 10lb test/4 lb diameter for most trolling applications, but I use the Big Game solar in 14lb test on my segmented leadcore trolling rods.

The only problem I found when using Trilene solar XT is if you find fish are hanging on a small shallow point and you think you can better reach the by casting the solar doesn't cast well and you will have to switch rods. I double the use of my baitcasters and larger spinning reels and rods for trolling so I can have less rods in the boat. I would only spool up a couple of rods with it, the ones you will not cast with.

Hope this helps

Thanks guys for the feedback, your advice is well taken.I feel better now about sending the check for a 3000 yard spool and knowing I won't have to strip it off any time soon to replace it with something else.Best of luck fishing.
