We broke one of the pins that lock the mount in the up position (motor laying on the top of the deck) Their is a setof pins that lock it in the up position and another set of pins that lock it in the down position. In looking at the enclosed are that the pins are located, looks like it is going to be almost impossible to get to. Would appreciate any advise on trying to get this unit apart to replace broken pin. Thanks Darrell

Call Motor Guide and ask there technicians they are more than happy to help. Every bit of the mount comes apart just start on it and it gets real easy. The trick is to get it to go back together LOL.

Pitts, thanks for the advise. Had an old mount sent to me from our boat dealer and have since fixed it. Like you said it is real simple once you get started. The enclose portion of the motorguide mount looked pretty complicated at first, so I called motorguide and like you said they said to pound out the pin and replace it with a new one, so I took the broken pin out first and found out the thing was not going to fall apart, then took out one from the old mount sent to us and put it in place of the broken one and bingo, we have it fixed and not only that have a few spare parts for next time and like I said it just took only a minute to replace. Thanks again Darrell

How did you ever break it they are basically bullet proof. I've ran in 4 and 5 ft's for 10 to 15 miles at a whack and the motor never moves. Best mount on the market.
Just called Motor guide and my new excel has a bad foot pedal so they sent me another. Great service.
Doesn't really matter the lakes are froze and the rivers are high here in MN so I guess it will be a couple of weeks before I'm out again. Good to hear you got it going again.

I just ordered an Excel. What was wrong with your foot pedal? Did Motorguide make you send in the whole motor like Minn Kota does?

Dont know how it broke, we just recently put a pair of the Ultra Ride seat system in our 620 Ranger and was testing these out in some three to four footers at Lake McCoughney and when we went to put the electric in the water I noticed a broken piece of the pin laying on the front deck, so who knows how it broke, like you said this is one tough unit. No sir Eric they send me the foot pedal and a ups lable prepaid to send the old one back. They want a credit card # for insurance you will send it back but it cost nothing.
Did you order your motor from Motorguide or a retail dealer?
The person at motorguide can check and see if they have it in stock and if it is you will have it in about 4 days.
The second time on the river I noticed that the sevo motor would hunt back and forth just a little bit maybe a 1/4 inch on the arrow. But the third time out we had to stop using it at times it would hunt back and forth almost 180 degrees with out your foot on the pedal then it would stop but as soon as you touched the pedal again it would hunt for a little while again.
The customer service rep said that they have had 2 others go bad so she was familiar with this problem and was sure it was the pedal.
Also when it was real erratic the constant on would shut off too.
The only problem I have with the new unit is it's so quiet when running below 4 on the speed scale that it's hard to know if you have it running so you check to see if you have the button pushed or if you bumped the constant on button and shut it off.
Their customer service is great and it is a very powerfull troller. I had speeds of 7 mph on the paddle wheel on my lms 350 going against the current at redwing closest to the dam that is allowed on the mississippi and into the wind ta boot. I would slip the current in the center for 100 yards or so with the constant on and then turn it up to high speed and run back up to my starting point and do it again and again never used the main motor because the troller was so fast and powerful pulling my 2500# boat up stream into a hard current.
It is just like using a cable control motor and very easy to operate.
Have no fears you will be taken care of by Motor guide

What # thrust do you have?
I ordered mine through Reeds. It is coming with a Pinpoint 7420. Cabelas was out of stock, so Reeds matched the price!
I ended up getting the 82lb. thrust, so it should do well.
