Walleye season is out here in Pa. and I was wondering if anyone had tried spinners/crawlers for Browns and Rainbows? Seems like it would work.
Thanks for any info leading to more fish.
See Ya on the water!

Often, on lakes that contain both Walleyes and Trout, I will troll with Cowbells. These are basically a series of big spinners in diminuishing size. The idea is that they look like a school of minnows.

Generally, I will use 12 lb test to the bells, then tied off the bells, I use about 4-15 ozs of weight. I use 8 lb test to the weight. If the weight gets hung, I want it to break off, rather than lose an expensive set of bells. Then off the back of the bells, I will use 4 to 6 lb test with about a 2 foot snell. I will generally have a couple of beads, chartruse, and red,on a #6 hook. Then I will use 1/2 a crawler.

I generally use a bait caster with a heavy trolling rod -- take care of all the weight -- and the system is a very very effective method on both Walleyes and trout.

Take care
