I need some help. My college age daughter asked if she could go to Canada with us this summer. I didn't hesitate to say yes. But I have one question, is there a goof cheap portable potty out there that does not take up much space?

Any ideas appreciated. She has fished infrequently the last several years and I want it to be a good experience for her.

Thanks,

Fritz

Most drugstores like Walgreens, Osco, CVS and others carry a "female" urinal. Just like a male urinal but with a larger fitted opening.

5 gallon bucket and a small tarp. get a cheap toilet seat if you want to get fancy. Just give here privacy.

My buddy's wife would use a bucket and a cheap poncho to cover. She faced forward we faced the stern NO problem. Dont forget biodegrading T pager.

K-Mart used to have the best prices on genuine Thetford Portapotties.

Some of the gals that fish as amateurs in the pro/ams carry along a small ice cream pail. They seem happy with the basics. They catch fish too. Those gals make great partners.

A college girl and daddy has to tell her how, when and where she is going to urinate, come on, time to cut the leash. Don't want to be rude but if this is your only worry then rent a house boat.

Actually one of the best things to use is a windshield washer jug. You have lots of these around the garage after this winter.
Simply use a knife or scissor and cut it roughly in half. Insure that you have a good cap for it - because you are cutting off the bottom half and throwing it away.

You can nicely contour the edges, and both the guys and ladies can use it with no problems. I generally carry two of these in the boat. One in the front and one in the back. Hold onto the handle while using and it contours nicely, and is easy to wash and rinse as well.

Nicest thing about these, is that they are free.

Take care

I'll tell you one thing you should NEVER use is a 16oz C-store Capachino cup. I took my wife out fishing(Once)HaHA, she needed to go and all I had was this cup. Well, she had both capachino and Mountain Dew that morning. So it was basically fill cup, empty cup, fill cup, empty cup all in one sitting. Now she won't drink anything in the boat.

No doubt they hold better but a 5 gallon bucket with almost half the lid cut in half, reasonable height for sitting. The lid provides seat and can also be used by men but DO NOT FORGET to LIFT THE SEAT!!!!

Enough already, let's change the subject, shall we?

Remember to always keep your eyes open and don't pee on your foot.

I know this was intended for ladies, but for young kids/boys
there is nothing too much better than a sawed off wiffle bat.

Must be hard on the bait. How do the walleyes respond to this?

For my 11-year old daughter, she's most comfortable with a porta-potty. So I'm happy to bring one along so she'll enjoy the trip.

My wife used the live-well once - it was empty, of course. I rinsed that thing out, but good. Our kids thought it was funny seeing mummie pee in the boat. She didn't like it when I gunned the throttle...too too funny.

Most Sporting Goods Stores will carry porta-potties of one kind or another. Dick's Spoting Goods has a Coleman that is enclosed and could be used as a seat. They also have one called a Hassock and a five gallon bucket with a toilet seat for a lid that sells for about $10.

I keep the bait in the cooler where it belongs. I can even adjust the aerator to be a bidet.

Problem is Solved;

If you are coming through Virginia MN or Hibbing MN they have a urinal like the hospital thing only red with a screw cap that can be used with a ladies addaptor.

It sounds like you must be, nobody else is willing to stop fishin' for that long!

I take my wife back to shore most of the time when she has to go pee. A couple of times when she did not want to hold it any longer she just squatted at the splash well and the pee just washed out through the holes in the well.

Going to shore isn't always so simple. If there's a good chop and I'm 12 to 15 miles off-shore on Lake Michigan, her pants would be well saturated before I could get to a port. Same holds on big water such as Mille Lacs, Leech, and Lake of the Woods (Big Traverse Bay).

A simple bucket has been just fine for my wife for the 42 years we've been married and fished together.

All these posts are from us guys, I think. Don't you think
that these ladies are also concerned about being seen??
Sure if your way out by your self fine and dandy. I am
thinking that one of those pull over big plastic rain coats and a
pail would be the ticket and would less apt to be seen. I
I did kid my wife one time and told her we carry a paper
bag to put over their heads. That way when seen back at
the dock they wouldn't remember what you looked like. Your
right she didn't like that.

Several years ago several of us were meeting at a friends house before we took off for Lk Erie. The guys were gathered around the kitchen table, drinking coffee, changing line on their reels and looking thru a stack of fishing pictures that were on the table.

Our friend and his live in girl friend had been on a fishing trip and she heard nature's call while in the boat. He convinced her that she could hang her tush over the side of the boat and, what the heck, no one was around except the two of them. He sold the idea and then at the appropriate time he snapped her picture. Nothing porno, just embarrassing.

She was in the kitchen that morning and took the whole thing in stride like a real sport.

That was fifteen years ago and they are still together.

The boss and I bring the port-a-potty along when we fish. Sometimes in a crowded area she is reluctant to use it. The oversize rain coat or poncho seems to be a good idea. You think that the clothing manufactures would have a trap door on the pants like the old red flannel long johns for the women.

Thank You for someone saying, "take me to shore I need to PEE" I am a woman and I fish all the time. The shore line works great, I will also use a pail either a 5 gallon if room or a ice cream bucked, or just hang your behind over the edge. But the shore works the best and it is sometimes a needed break from "just fishing" if you are not use to it.

Good luck and good fishing

Just take a bucket. Easy to use, and easy to rinse. Keep it small, like the ice cream pail that was mentioned, and it won't take up a lot of space.

Very rarely do I need to use one, since after so many years of training, I now have a 10 hour bladder (tournies are only 8 hours ;-)). When I fish with my male partners, they always seem amazed by this.

I never drink coffee before heading out and I keep the breakfast light. I fill up on water the night before (at least a 1/2 gallon) to rehydrate myself, so I'm not hurting myself in the long run by doing this. I don't drink any liquids until after 12 noon when I'm on the boat either. That helps. The less that goes in the less that comes out don'tcha know!

The bucket, the baitwell, the splashwell, the "over the side" all work great. When you gotta go, you gotta go...no one cares out there. That's cool.

I hope you all have a good time and catch lots of fish up in Canada!

Juls
