Can someone please explain why the pro and am weights do not match up. For example the no 10 pro and no. 10 am don't have the same weight.

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe it is a mistake that will be corrected. Also there is more goose eggs on the am side. How does that happen.

Besides the weights not matching is there only 76 pro's in the tournament or is that all they are listing?

I was under the impression that the Am are paired with a different pro every day by a drawing.
someone correct me if I'm wrong but that would explain the different weights.
I have been thinking of doing the am thing sometime if I can get up the time and the $$$.

You are correct, sir.

However, since yesterday was the first day of the tournament, the top pro and amature should have the same weight until weigh-in today.

The weights were off by 1/10 of an ounce.
The reason for that is I was inputting the co angler weights through a webpage interface that automatically changed the pounds and ounces to pounds (RCL gives weights in lbs/oz, no one else does)

However the webpage interface for the pro was not working so I did the math and input those directly into the database and I didn't round up like the computer did.

There also were a few typos in there.

I can't check the weights until the RCL or whoever it is sends me a copy of "official" weights, then I can go back and check for typos etc... which is what I did this morning.

Everything is correct and the 1/10 of an ounce correction has been made.

It's not a perfect system yet, but all the anglers were listed in the correct order so the standings never changed, just the 1/10 of an ounce between the Pro page and the Co page (it wouldn't have made any differece anyway - all the pros were scored by the same system, all the co's were scored by the same system.)

Thanks for bringing it to my attention - we are the only ones with "up to the minute" weights so there is no place to check them until later in the day or sometimes the next day.

Late penalties etc.... are not taken into account until after weigh in, not as it goes on.

Looks great on my end now, Scott. As always, we all appreciate your effort. It's not a perfect world we live in.....:)

Thanks again

I was wondering the same thing on the number of people fishing? How many pros total did they get? I heard at one point they were looking for more co-anglers. Anyone know this for sure? Not bad odds if you are only competing against 70 some anglers for that kind of money. Good fishing and don't forget to shoot the puck. Mike Peluso

Are there two people in every boat fishing in the tournament (ie a pro and an amatuer) or do some of the pros fish by themselves?

Mike Peluso: 70 some anglers may seem good odds to you, for myself I calculate it to be roughly equivalent to hitting the Powerball lottery!!! But thanks anyway for the help you've given myself and others. I'd better go practice. Heye5

there were 77 pro anglers, and 77 am anglers. the bite was good for some and not good for others. there was a blow day today and they didnt let us go out, the cut was made for 60 teams friday. i hope that water is decent for tomorrow. see you all soon. good luck to all.

pro/am tournaments are a little confusing, but really quite simple. Let me try to explain the concept of a 2 day pro/am. for explanation purposes you will be the amateur in this. first day you get garry roach as a pro and at the end of the day your weights (20 lbs)match because you were both in the same boat. the second day you both change partners. garry gets 30 lbs with a differant amateur. garrys 2 day total is 50 lbs. on the second day you are in keith's boat and catch 25 lbs. your two day weight is 45 lbs. you and garry have differant 2 day weights. you won't match keith's 2 day weight(40 lbs) either because the first day he only caught 15 lbs. with his first amateur. trying to explain this any further would just get more confusing. .... If you get a chance to fish a pro/am go for it. they are great. you will learn a lot.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-12-01 AT 09:16PM (CST)[p]There was a bug in the interface for either the pro's or am's so the calculation was done slightly diffrently causing an occasional 1/10th of an ounce disparity. We perform this calculation because the RCL tournaments are weighed in pounds and ounces, not 100ths of a pound like the PWT or MWC. To be able to compare apples to apples at some later date we convert the RCL weight to match the MWC and PWT systems. Also, I was out of town and not able to correct the rounding issue until today. The numbers have now been matched and the problem corrected.

The benefit of all of this?

Once you, as an angler, fish a tournament where the Tempress/Crestliner LiveLeaderboard is present, you are entered into our master database. The data from every tournament you fish this year, next year, and so on will be tied to your master user record. This allows us to compile, and become a repository of, the most comprehensive walleye tournament statistics available anywhere. To my knowledge this has not been done before on a species wide basis.

An interface we have built, but not yet released, will allow you to pull many types of statistics related to circuit, location, individual fishermen, etc for all PWT, MWC and RCL tournaments beginning this year. In a very general sense, look at pgatour.com for an example of what I am talking about. There are also NPAA database tie-ins planned for NPAA/WC maintenance of individual member angler records and associated data, as well as some other things we can't reveal just yet. Pretty cool and exciting stuff for the world of walleye fishing.

As a sidenote, you will be able to perform comprehensive fantasy angler research using this tool as we roll out future versions of that application. The fantasy points will be updated sometime within the next few days. After the update, point accumulations should be occurring in real-time, based upon leaderboard input.
