There was a discussion on what is a walleye "trophy" on the fishing reports area, and I thought I would pose the question in regards to saugeye. I have weighed a 7.12 lber, and there was a 8+ weighed at a local tourney here in Central Ohio. What do you guys think a trophy saugeye is.

Trophy for a saugeye is simple to define
with mathematics: a trophy walleye + a
trophy sauger divided by an average sauger.
This will give you the trophy size of a saugey!
Plug in the values yourself and see for yourself.
This only applies if both species are present in
the body of water you are calculating the trophy for.

My opinion would be 10-11 lb for Saugeye. Their is a fair number of 10 lb plus caught every year in Ohio. The Saugeye seem to have the weight genes of the Walleye, so I'm not so sure about averaging Sauger & Walleye. Of course I consider a 13-14 lb Walleye a trophy for Erie/Ohio waters.
