I'm looking at an 18ft '85 Tuffy with a 50HP Mariner tiller. With the exeption of a soft floor, it looks like a clean rig with low hours.
I haven't been in a Tuffy before but always thought they looked like very fishable boats. I would appreciate some comments about these boats; how do they ride, are ther any problems inherent to this boat or motor? Is 2000 bucks a fair price? Would the floor be more difficult to replace than any other boat? Thanks for any info.

I can't speak to the question of the floor, but I looked at a similiar year 16' with a 40 tiller, and the boat seemed heavy and slightly underpowered with just myself in the boat.

I judged it to be a quality boat otherwise.

Fiberglass fishing boats here in Mpls seem to always command higher $ regardless of age.

If you pass on it, could you e-mail me with it's location? I'd be real interested in it. The floor should'nt be a problem, you'll just have to go to a one size bigger screw or place them a little ways from the original to be sure they stay securely. A stainless wood screw with the corser threads than sheetmetal will hold in glass better.
