My earlier post apparently didn't make the move to the new format so here's a similar question again.

Is there a noticable difference in the 160 pixel LMS 160 sonar compared compared with the 240 pixel X75?

I'm considering running the LMS 160 on the console with possibly a X75 on the bow. I hate to give up the better resolution while trolling, (using the console sonar).

Also, does the LMS 160 adapt speed and temp?

Thanks to the Lowrance useres for replying!

I have a x65 on the bow and a x75 on my console. I like the x65 better then the x75. When I have the x75 in Fish ID the fish are small and the depth is hard to read. While in the x65 they are larger and easier to see. I sent the x75 in but was told that there is nothing wrong with it. If I had known it would be like this I wouldn't have bought the x75.

Before you buy, check out the new Lowrance 2400 exclusive to Cabelas only, as far as I can see it is the exact same as the x 75 for $349, same pixels with Speed water temp too.
i just bought one, but have yet to use it.

I have that setup and it's great. The LMS-160 however doesn't have the resolution of the x-75, and you can tell on the water. Bottom composition and target separation aren't as good, however I generally am casting for Largemouth and Smallmouth. I get on my spot with the 160, then jump up to the front deck where I get a better picture with the X-75. That's where I spend most of my time. About speed and temp, yes they can be hooked up. I am not sure why Lowrance chose to put the lower resolution screen on the 160. It doesn't make sense. But I love both units and have been very satisfied with their performance.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the testimony guys. Tyler you've made my decision! Ditto on the reasoning to offer a lower level sonar on what could be the best of all worlds in both GPS and sonar. Oh well, Lowrance hasn't called me for advice.

My thanks again to the replies!

Hi Husker,
Think about this one. If can afford it buy the X-85. It is a much better sonar than the X-75. Primaraly becouse it has 3000 watts of Power vs.the X-75's 600 watts. My Dad bought a Eagle Optima. The Optima has the same specs. as the X-75. He found out it did not peform anywhere near my X-85 and wish's he had spent the xtra cash. Now he is trying to sell the Optima. It's only a year old, You'd get a good deal. e-mail me if your interested. Catch A Big One!-Tommy Mac
