I recently bought a 93 lund pro-v 1775 with a 15 hp kicker. Love the boat but I have one concern-leval of he lake seems awful close to the transom cut, water in and out of the spasshwell all the time. Worst when netting a fish and 2 pepple are way in stern. To much weight back there guys? Wavewackers maybe, anybody got a simalar setup or am I overreacting, thanx much in advance.

My brother had the same year 1775 and we did'nt have that problem. Did you check your bilge area to see if you're taking on any water? Pro-V style boats are commonly close to the water line in the back, but you should'nt have water comming over the stern just with a couple guys in the back of the boat in normal water conditions.

I have a Lund Tyee 5.3, and when there are two people in the the stern netting a fish or what ever, I also get some water in the splash well but only if there is a following sea, and then only if the waves are about one or two feet or better. It seems to have no ill effect though. Maybe you should look at how your boat is loaded. Could you shift any weight to the bow?
Be glad your lund doesn't leak like mine!!

A 120 and a kicker and an electric motor. The water was close as with most pro-v style boats, but you had to have some what of a wave for the water to actually break over the transom. With all the boats I've purchaced and the ones I rig for other guys, I always put in an automatic 1000 gphr bilge pump. Just check once in a while to be sure it's working. It's easy to forget about an automatic pump.

I would invest in some of those transom splash guards.

Your splashwell woud be full of water with that set up..It comes in the drain holes and out the drain hloes in the splash pan. No worry. I had an 1890 with 150 and 9.9 fourstroke on the transom. When my REALLY big buddy (over 400lbs) was fishing in the back the water actually would come over the transom......STEADY ! It looked pretty weird to look back there and see the actual transom below water line, but it only dribbled some into the actual bilge area. That water came in around that deck lid back in the splashwell.
No big deal....just turned on the bilge once in a while. The boat would not have gotten much lower if filled with water.......LOL! BUT, when he would move forward in the boat, there would be the transom....as normal. The new IPS hulls are much wider than the old hulls were, and that is one of the main reasons....higher float at transom.

Yeah, its used, can't seem to find the leak either. I may have to take the bow section apart to find it. Not a good time. I'm replacing the floor this spring, and I'm going to put in 2 or 3 removable panels so I can see whats what. Thank God for the bilge pump!! Love the boat, hate the leak.
tight lines!

BC, With the boat maxxed out with the V6 outboard and a kicker you should have a bit of a low stance at the tramsom. That area that the water is going into is called the Splashwell for a good reason. Lunds are wider at the trancom than most boats of that style. It is kind of a necessary evil because as you know the motor is a 20 inch shaft length and the transom is the place of the lowest freeboard on the boat. As long as you keep her closed up like Terry Mac says all should be well. Spashguards will help keep the waves from washing over but remember that the water will wash in the drain tubes and then out with the motors maxxed out like tou are. Enjoy Tom

Sounds to me you all should take a look at the new 172,182,202 Tournament series from crestliner . It's available with a twenty five inch transom , just like the offshore big water boats . also The Crestliner factory uses a skupper drain with flapper on all of their transom splashwells . It keeps the water out . The Sportfish series is available standard with the big water transom . Take a look, a Crestliner dealer can show you the difference .......GOODLUCK

Hey Mr Bottom line,Now that you have bashed a Lund and before we all go out and buy your new Crustyliner. Check it out we were talking bout a 1995 used Lund that is narrower and does not have the checkvalves that you refer to. The new Lunds have the toys and the beam and the 25 inch transom on select models. Tom

Hey Tom, Do the new Lunds really have a check valve on the drain holes of the splashwell? That really would be nice to have. My 1996 1660 Pro V with 90hp plus 8hp kicker sits low enough in water that it does occasionally take small amount of water in through splashwell drain hole and then back out through hole with waves. I always considered that to be normal but I would rather not have any come in. Seems to me that if a check valve or scupper is in fact available and used on newer models, it would be nice to be able to buy a conversion kit to modify the older models. It could be as simple as an insert into existing hole. Does anyone have a product like that available?

Yes, the new Lunds have "check valves" on the transom drain holes.
