I have seen it posted here before but so many of the batteries out there now are combination batteries, deep cycle and starting. Are there really such things? And how effective are they? I personally do not like things that supposedly can do two functions effectively. There has to be some sacrifice somewhere.
What's up?
Jerry: I have a Interstate battery that makes claims to be both. I used to on my Sylvan to crank the IO as well as run the trolling motor. It did perform OK but sometimes the Merc was hard to turn over but the electric motor would run on and on. On a fresh charge the Merc would kick right over. The Merc did not always keep it up even though it had a high output alternater, with everything else running. Check with a Interstate dealer for the specs on their batteries. Good luck FISHING....Kaz of MSP

Jerry I have posted this several times . There is no such thing as a DeepCycle/Marine Starting Battery <-They are all Deepcycle. You are right about the sacrifice and it will be your electrical components on your motor. It's to hard on them working all the time trying to get that Deepcycle to show fully charged. You must use a isolator. The best way is still 110v. Use a Starting battery to start your motor and D/C for your accessorys.
