I have to redo the floor in my boat this year. And I am thinking of putting a tank in the floor to free up some space inside and to distribute the weight better. Anyone out there done this yet or had this done? I live in the Mpls area and was wondering if you know of any tank builders?

Thank a bunch

You might try an automotive shop that builds race cars, they should be able to make a custom gas tank for you. Also I remember a Cabella's Marine Catalog that had a bunch of different sized tanks both aluminum and plastic. Good Luck.

Get the big catalog from Marine West (just west of Ridgedale/Target/Best Buy). I think they have a line of various size/shape/material tanks.

I had a custom tank built for my Alumacraft Lunker by Cabelas. Fits perfect under the splash well and ended up handling 14 Gallons. This was far superior from the twin 6 gal. tanks that I had and my 40 can run all weekend. Call Cabelas and ask for the "Custom Gas Tank" guy. It also helps to make a model of the tank out of cardboard to make sure everything fits. Mine has angled sides a weird cutout to fit around the transom supports. This was no problem for them.
If you have any questions, shoot me an email.
take care, BarryM.
