I'm looking for some input on new boats.I've just started to look at the new warriors and yarcrafts.Specifically the Yarcraft 1785 side console and the warrior eagle 1790 side console. Also, would selling my present boat outright be the way to go or can you get a fairly good deal by trading in the old boat with the dealer.I am now fishing out of a 1997 Alumacraft tour.pro 175 cs.Any input would be appreciated.Thanks.

I gotta agree--sell it yourself. For both buying and selling, look at the classifieds here on WC.

Those boats you mentioned are good ones. But in keeping an open mind, check out the Crestliner Tournament Series like the TS182 single or dual console. Lots of amenities and one helluva boat in terms of ride, performance and fishability. My friend owns one and we fish out of it all the time. My personal boat is a Sportfish I/O,...more of a compromise fishing/recreational boat since the "bosslady" wanted dual purpose use of our new boat! I've seen lots of good things from Crestliner. By the way, my pal sold his Warrior 2000 to get this TS182DC. All the major boat builders have good products, I'm just more comfortable with Crestliner's warranty, and familiar with the construction techniques used to build their boats. Good luck!

I am also looking at the crestliner lineup and I am very impressed with the boats. However my friend currently owns a Yarcraft and tends to feel that the yarcraft would give a better ride. Since having experience with both boats would you agree or disagree with him?

For the most part if you trade you lose. It can take longer to sell the boat yourself but you will get more.

Best Regards,

I have a 1995 YarCraft 1781 TPS (side console, replaced by the Mille Lacs), and absolutely love it. Once you have owned a glass boat, you will never consider going back to aluminum. I would caution you that I have not heard very good things about Warrior's customer service.

I had a hard time giving up my aluminum boat.I now own a Yar-Craft and I think that it is the best decision that I have ever made. The ride and the comfort and the fishability of this boat is just great. Just check out all the standard features of the 1785 Mille Lacs SC and compare them to other boats. A good place to do this is at the boat the boat shows in your area. Feel free to EMail me if you have more questions.

I to had a Alumacraft TP 175SC.I now fish out of a 2000 Yar-craft 1785 DC. The ride is dry and very smooth. I toured the factory last year and met a great bunch of people up there, received it Aug 6,and fished out of it last fall until Dec 30,I loved it and did not want to put it away! You will be very pleased with your Yar-craft. The lay out is well thought through. It is very roomy, tracks and drifts straight,it sits level in the water, even with a kicker... good luck

I think it's hard to compete with the ride of a glass boat because the weight helps smooth out the ride. I live out here in California in the foothills and towability (ie: weight) is a big concern. I routinely tow my boat over a 7200ft elevation from sea level to get to Lake Tahoe. So if weight isn't too big a consideration, any glass boat would be a good choice to look at. The YarCraft is one of the best, I think!

The first Warrior I ever rode in was a 1891 Eagle side console. After years of owning aluminum boats,I could tell right away fiberglass was the way to go for me. Though I chose to purchase a V193 Eagle dual console, the 1891 was very impressive and I'm sure the 1790 would be equally as good! I know several people who own the 1891 and love it!
As for an earlier post about rumors of poor customer service. If you would believe every rumor of poor customer service floating around this message board, you would end up never buying any brand boat!! Or truck or sonar or rod or.......!:)
Speaking for my self, I have had excellent service from Warrior and more importantly from my dealer, Fort Fremont Marine. I believe the quality and dedication of the dealer directly reflects on the the reputation of the factory. So please take this into consideration in your next purchase. All boat brands have problems. Just work a boat show sometime and you will see what I mean. But your dealer and the relationship they have with the factory will be the difference in whether these problems turn into mountains or go away as molehills!
Good luck in you decision and make you new boat buying experience a fun one! And if I can answer any more questions feel free to E-Mail me.
