I've decided to update my 1990 90HP Yamaha to probably the 100HP 4-stroke-My main fishing partner thinks I'm crazy to not leave the rig together and get a new boat also. I would consider it-but I currently back the Competitor into the waves to hold structure, and am very happy the way the large backsplash area funnels the water out. The transom on most new boats-even the consul types- seem to be so low that large rugged backsplashes would be required. The 1991 Competitor has a high front on the rear splashwell-so it takes quite a wave to get water in the carpeted area.....Anyone make the same tough choice?? Any new boats with the same feature that I should look at? I'm happy with the boat-but maybe makes sense to get new pumps,floor,seats,guages,etc(new boat)??? and rig it now???? THANKS.
