Greetings all,
I just wanted to share my experience about the new LCX-16 CI. I hade the opportunity to see how well it worked last weekend in Chamberlin, SD. This was the first unit shipped from the factory for training seminar's, so forget any other rumors you have heard about the CI (Color model). The display was better than my computer screen and has the equivelent to 800 verticle pixels. The color resolution of the screen was very bright and easy to see under any light condition, yes thats right, a color unit that works well in direct sunlight. This unit is a definate winner if you are serious enough to spend the $2,000.00 it will retail for. The best quote about the new X-16 CI was from Gary Roach, "I have to have it" maybe the red on the screen reminds him of the old flashers. The other units (X15MT&CT) also worked great. I had heard some rumors about the new screen, and all I can say is,"seeing is believeing".

Jugs: I too looked at the color version, but opted for the MT and saved about $900. The LCX15MT had all of the features of the color unit , but was a lot cheaper. Please tell me what is worth the extra money for the color version. I talked to the rep at the sports show, and they could not justify the additional cost. I ordered the LCX15MT instead of the LCX16Cl. $900. goes a long way in providing other equiptment on my boat. Good luck FISHING...Kaz

i believe that the mt performs better in direct sunlight, and since i dont have a roof on my 1900 mr. walleye i went with the 15mt. and i think i will probably use the extra $900 for gas this summer! 2bucks/gal by memorial day weekend!

Hey Jugs: I think we both made the right choice. The MT does everything the X16Cl does. I have a roof on my SportCRAFT, But like you said " Two Bucks a Gallon by Memorial Day". And to fill my boat it takes 100gal, when empty. Good luck FISHING....Kaz

I was interested in the LCX-16 until I called Lowarance and was told it is not meant to be used in an open boat. The person I spoke with said it would perform well in direct sunlight, but that the screen was not meant to be exposed to it day after day. He would not go into further detail, he just said it was designed for use in a covered boat. I really wanted to buy this unit, but was not willing to go against this recomendation and end up with problems with the display two or three years down the road and be out of warranty. I purchased the LCX-15 MT instead. IMO - Call Lowrance if you are considering puchasing it and ask the same question: Can I use it in an open boat without problem?

If any one else has heard different, please post.
