View Full Version : Boat Leaks??!!
How much is acceptable leakage of water into your bilges? After a day fishing 4-6 hours, when I pull out on the ramp and remove the plug, it takes about 1 minute for the water to run out. I have a 1991 19foot Spectrum aluminum I/O with welded seams and rivets to the stringers. No visible problems to boots or structure. How do you locate any leaks.

To find leaks in the hull. Fill your boat with water, not to much at a time, while it is on the trailer, in the drive way, look for where the water leaks out. If no water leaks are apparent check all the internal water tie ins for bulge pump, live wells etc. they may be leaking water inside your boat. Let us know how you make out.

One thing to look at if your livewell is seal around the top edge.Or have some one spray water in your transom areaand you look inside your cover of your boat see if water is running down from. Ihave spray water back by the motor and see water come down. When spraying water by moter area plug the holes in transom area and let the water set. Then look under back cover for leaks.I fill my boat up with water to the out side water line and look under boat for leaks.Good luck

Ahhhh----Mark, You did say I/O didn't you? I'll bet that the motor may have a leak in it when it is running. Get a Flushett on the old garden hose and run her up. Betcha dollars to donuts that will be where you find your leak. Happy Hunting------------Tom
Thanks, Larry. That's the same model boat I have. I'll be checking it out this weekend. Thanks for the tip.
