I am considering a new trailer for my boat this spring. I am wondering if it is worth the extra money for disc brakes as opposed to standard drum brakes. Also, what would be worth looking into a tandem axle trailer as opposed to a single axle, or is there some disadvantages (beside the extra cost) to getting a tandem. I have a 19 foot Yarcraft dual console, which when taking into acount all the extras(kicker, TM, batteries, etc)
gets kind of weighty. Thanks.

if you do alot of traveling, tandem is safer. if you were to get a blow out on the e-way, you still have another tire on that side. the draw back on tandems is, if you need to move the boat around in the garage the extra tires make it hard to turn the rig.

I'm in the process of retro-fitting my single axle trailer with disc brakes. The difference between drum or disc was about 65 bucks. The discs are the way to go. They're stainless rotors and nothing to rust on the calipers. They do take a special actuator if you want to do the job right.

Disc brakes react quicker as for tandon better handling on long distances if you travel and it would handle the weight better.
