Not sure how to get it out!!!! But to prevent this, apply vaseline to pole bases about every 3 months and it will eliminate this problem.

If they're snap-lock bases like are in a Lund, some recommend tapping the posts near the bases lightly with a rubber mallot to loosen. I've had best luck by removing the base from the floor (about 5-7 screws), securing a tie-strap around the tab, then put the seat and base on your driveway and step or jump on the base. It will pop right out.
As for lubricating the plastic tight-lock base on the seat post, be careful. You don't want it to pop out when you hit the throttle and do a reverse summersault. I wouldn't use vaseline, but maybe polish the plastic with Armor-All, and clean the aluminum base too.
That should keep your posts loose for a while. Good luck.

Keep the Springfield bases wiped out from debris.
In general, once the plastic bottom on the pedistal gets used a few times, it compresses some, and from then on, things work more easily. But, if 450lb "Bubba" sits in one of your seats, with some debris/grit present between pedistal bottom and seat base, you got fun!
In that case, you have to take base up ,then have "Bubba" depress release tab, and while he is holding the seat and the tab in,(with the base still stuck onto pedistal) whack the base with a rubber hammer. The base may hit "Bubba"'s toes when it flies off...but,,revenge is sweet!
Sears has a neat tool that is designed to be a fitsall. It comes in a set of 2, large & small and consists of a handle which is shaped to apply leverage, a track, and in the track is a strong rubber strip that adjusts around most anything. It worked great on seat and is now a permanent fixture in toolbox.
I first saw this on TV, it is about $20 for the pair. The small one works great in kitchen for unruly jars.

For taper locks like Lund pull the screws, take out the base like Gungadin suggested. Then hold the tab tight with your hand or a zip tie, tap the plastic nipple sticking out of the bottom of the base with a rubber mallet. It will pop right out. To prevent the problem in the future pull the post and clean the aluminum bases with glass cleaner or 10%vinegar solution and use Armoral on the taper locks once a month. It is just dirt that is making them stick, or else your just to d*mn heavy for them like me! Good luck, Pat K
After you get your seats out, get a green scouring pad and clean out the aluminum bases. You will feel the difference. Then apply paste wax to the aluminum, your seats will come out easier.

Had the same problem. I used electrical tape to hold the tab tight. Then with a 4ft 2x4 and a piece of nylon webing rappped around the pole, I tapped with a rubber hammer and lifted. The seat popped right out. It was easier for me than removing the base. Good Fishin'
