Magellan 2000 GPS

Friend of mine is looking at getting a used Magellan 2000. Any opinions on this unit...good/bad/other.

That is a great basic unit. If the price is right, I would say buy it. It is very simple to use and would serve as an excellent starter unit, a back-up or a handheld for someone that uses a permanent in their boat. My only knock is that it takes a bit to lock in compared to new 12 channel units and it is a bit light on memory. I have a Magellan 3000XL GPS that has (I believe) 2X the memory. I have upgraded to the Lowrance GM100 mapping unit. If you have any interest in my 3000, let me know. I have all the original packaging, manuals and a video.
