I am working on putting a am/fm/cd player in my boat and was wondering if anyone uses the vhf and fm/am splitter put out by shakespear? Also what did you do for speakers? Thanks Doc

My antenna is an 18" rubber job from Radio Shack that works great. I mounted some good tri-ax Pioneers speakers up under the consoles. I have not had any moisture related problems in two years of use. They seem to handle the pounding pretty good too. Use a dab of silicone caulk on the wire connections to the speakers though, it keeps them from vibrating off. (I didn't like the sound quality from the 'waterproof' speakers)

The Shakespheare VHF/FM splitter works just fine. Used it all last year with no problems with either radio.

There have been many changes in the audio industry in the past few years. Most of the major manufacturers now have excellent quality marine speakers. The really nice thing is that you really don't have to pay a premium for them anymore.
If you have time go to a good car audio retailer, take a listen, then you don't have to worry about your new speakers.
