OK...I have two stock Props for my Yamaha 30. Both have some Minor Nicks, etc. A new Michigan Wheel Aluminum Prop sells for approx $100 bucks, I can get mine reconditioned for $ 50 or I can buy a new Composite Plastic prop for $60. The Plastic prop is a 4 Blade(performance?) version. I like the idea of trying a plastic prop, but will a minor impact break the prop? Also I know its a smaller engine, but a few extra mph would be nice. Thanx for Suggestions in advance!!!

I had one on a 30 and it worked well until I hit a stick or something in the water. The prop appeared unscathed but all of the teeth inside the hub stripped out and it was trash. If you buy one, have the aluminum prop repaired and carry it as a spare. I would simply stick w/ aluminum.

I second the stick with aluminum idea. I tried a plastic prop a couple years back and hit a small stick running about 22 mph on Erie. It completely disintegrated the plastic prop. All that was left was the hub. At best the plastic might serve as a backup, but as stated, you can buy a reconditioned aluminum for the same $ as a plastic.

I have heard these props are junk and would not risk buying one myself. You should stick with a aluminum or stainless steel. If you want more speed go with a higher pitch prop.

See the post titled "Comprop question" - it is a couple pages back. You will hear the same sentiments echoed in that post as well. Personally, I would by a used aluminum prop if $ is an issue.

I thought the same thing for my 90hp merc.Put the new 4 blade on,I had my son driving while I use the casting net for shad.We both heard the kerthump, lifted the motor up we now had a 3blade.What the heck no big deal we can still go up river and drift back.By the time I had the boat up on plane one more came off, motor was shacking like all heck .We shut it down raised it up none,I would not buy another one even for backup.
