I ran two one day USFA TEAM Walleye events on pool 12 this weekend. 2 fish were caught. On Saturday and Sunday morning the water was just high. Sunday by noon things changed for the worse. This is not spring "High Water"the river was full and I mean full of whole trees and hundreds of small trees. After trying to locate all teams and only finding a few I decided to let them fish the final three hours.(I was intending to call the event then if I could find them all). They already knew that they could weigh-in for a finish any time after launch. I went looking in a van not a boat. For the next three hours I watched the river I have fished on for over thirty years turn into a minefield of floating wood. I actually saw times when I don't believe there was any way even one boat could have gone up river without hitting lumber. Worse yet about every twenty minites out of nowhere a submerged log would pop to the surface. I was very worried for my teams and was extremely happy to see them all returning together in single file at a reasonable speed. ALL THE LOCAL REPORTS ON INTERNET,TV, RADIO SAY THE WORST FOR DUBUQUE IS YET TO COME. "THIS IS NOT THE MWC'S FAULT. IN A NORMAL HIGH WATER SITUATION THEY COULD HAVE FISHED, BUT THIS IS NOT NORMAL HIGH WATER. THIS IS A MAJOR, POSSIBLY RECORD BREAKING FLOOD" I WILL APPLAUD THEM IF THEY DECIDE TO RESCHEDULE THIS EVENT. LAWRENCE ECKLOR

You can see what you see can from a van. Get in a boat and you can see the real thing. The river was full of trees and dead heads. You where lucky to have had every one return on Saturday.
