I need to know what everyone is using on their bunks to make the boat slide a little easier. I used spam once but I must not of put enough on or it washed off right away.

The problem you experienced with the spam on your trailer bunks was probably due to the application being done under less than ideal conditions. If the spam is applied when the temp is above 80, with a light breez from the south, and under full moon conditions, not only will your boat load and unload with ease but it will be much easer to find in a crowded parking lot. Just look for the swarm of flies, the pack of hungry wild dogs, and the stench of cannde meat rotting in the hot sun.

I hope you meant Pam, not Spam! On an earlier thread I saw someone say they had real good luck with Armor-All. He also said it worked so well you shouldn't take the bow strap off untill your'e backed into the water. I'm going to give it a try as soon as the water thins out a little around here.I've been using silicone spray but it doesn't seem to last very long. Good luck Skeeter Boy

Try what we do, it is simpler and doesn't involve any cooking sprays. When your partner or yourself backs the trailer in to load the boat, completely submerge the bunks for about 3-5 seconds. Then pull forward to the optimal loading depth. This not only "lubes" your bunks but washes off any junk that may have gotten on them in the lot to prevent scratching of your hull.

I agree with Ash. I was at a tournament on the Illinois river - Barto Landing. If anyone is familiar with this landing it is pretty steep. With our Lunds we are always able to unhook the bow strap and just back down the ramp and dump in the boat. Well, there was a guy with a new Ranger Cherokee and maybe he had slicks on the trailer - maybe he rubbed Spam on the bunks - who knows. Anyway, his partner unhooked the bow eye - he got 1/2 way down the ramp with the boat on the trailer and the boat decided it wanted to go the rest of the way on its own - took 10 guys to lift that boat back onto the trailer. I prefer to leave my bunks as they are.
